07 March 2009 - Day 1 of Nepal Trip

Reaching the airport at about 6.30am. Looked for our row to check-in, to find that our row is actually full of people queuing. Was told by one of the staff that we are also able to check-in in another row serving Singapore Airline passengers. After checking-in, we went into the departure hall to eat our breakfast and just waiting around for our flight.
Ate our breakfast at O'Briens. Expensive, but everything else in the departure hall is expensive too. After that, we walked around the place taking photos of whatever we think is nice...

Time to aboard the plane. We were not given the window seat... *shit* forgotten to ask for window seat! Throughout the whole journey it's just boring. Unable to look out of the window, the show showing on the tv is repeating itself. Toilet long queue...

Some "high class" english speaking ppl kept walking about in the plane talking to diff ppl. Mostly talking to foreigner. Holding wine and talking very loudly. One of them kept asking why is he not allowed to bring his guitar on board. The staff tried to explain to him why is he not allowed to bring the guitar up, and replied that they will bring to the attention of the managment regarding this. The 'high class' man shouted loudly, trying to show that he is the boss, saying that he will bring the matter to the press. I mean, guitar is actually beyond the limit of the size that can carry on board. Bring the press into the picture for wat? No brain ppl trying to act big... Overall i think silk air is very much better than the other budget airline which didn't give us food and drinks, and we need to purchase them ourselves.

Lunch time...
We are allowed to go into the cockpit to take photos with the pilot. We have never been in the cockpit before... and it's a eye opener!

We also took photos with some of the staffs on board...

Reached at Kathmandu International Airport. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. Hmm, it's definitely different from Singapore Airport. We are required to take a shuttle bus from the plane to airport. But everything is still smooth till now.

We paid for our airport tax and stepped into Nepal for the first time. Met up with the Nepal representative. He drove us to another airport, the Domestic airport. After filling up our forms and gave us our air ticket, he see us off at the airport gate.

We are taking Agni Air to Pokhari.

The flight is supposed to be 3pm. But it delayed till 5pm. We waited in the airport for 2 hours with no drinks and food. Actually there are shops selling food and drinks, but we dont know if it's safe a not, so we didnt buy nething.

Finally, our plane is here.... Same thing, we gotta take a shuttle bus to the plane. When we reached the plane, it's still not ready for boarding. We gotta queue up to wait for the plane to be ready.

On the domestic flight to Pokhara...
There's only one air stewestress on the plane. Before it takes off, the air stew gave out sweets
and cotton wool. We were very curious by the cotton wool been given out. Ate the sweet and hold onto the cotton wool for further instruction.

When we alighted from the plane, we asked one of the passenger about cotton wool. She was surprised that we dont know about it. It's actually for us to put in our ears when we are in the plane, because the plane is very noisy.

Reached Pakhara at last!

A Nepalese waited for us at the airport to drive us to our hotel. On the way to the hotel, we saw a lot of cow scrolling along the road...

Everywhere is filled with dirt, mud, stones and cow poo. We got to walk with caution not to step on it. We thought we will be brought to some cheap hotel but the driver stopped at a hotel that is quite new and nice... The Hotel Marahi...

After settling down, we went out for dinner... Becos of the messiness of the surrounding, we were very confused once we stepped out of the hotel. We went to a nearby departmental store to buy some stuff to eat for supper. For dinner, we went to the restaurant in the hotel. We ate the buffet. It's RP$1000. which is abt SGD$20. We were so tired that we only ate one round. Not worth it at all! Went back to the hotel room to pack to get ready for the next day. We will be going trekking on the next day, lots of energy will be needed. We slept very early today... Oh ya, the timing is abt 2.25 hours before Singapore time.
